Swimming Pools for smaller yards and smaller budgets

Spools
"Spools, small spa pools are a big trend in outdoor living spaces". Despite a weak economy, homeowners in 2011 are expected to continue enjoying their outdoor living spaces -- choosing to spend more time at home with family and friends.

I believe every great outdoor living space should have a water feature. The rhythmic sound of the water and the bouncing reflections of light, whether it is the sun or moon, delight the senses. Add an element of fragrance, and one's mind is instantly transported to their favorite spa or exotic destination.

So what do you choose... a pond, a fountain, a spa or a swimming pool? I say "Why not a Spool" - all four in one! Gaining popularity, the "Spool" is an in-ground oversized spa. Its typical size of 11' x 14' can be accommodated by most back yards such as patio homes, garden homes, townhouses, homes in the city and international homes with smaller backyards, places where its "bigger cousin", the oversized swimming pool was never welcomed. "Spools" have also gained popularity with homeowners that dream of a larger pool in the future but need to roll out their project in phases. "Spools" have also gained popularity with homeowners in colder climates, as summer comes to a close the "Spool" becomes the hot tub hangout, extending the seasonal life of the typical swimming pool. Not to mention those who are retired or just too busy to maintain something larger.

As an owner of a beautiful, oversized luxury swimming pool, I have noticed a trend. My family and guests spend most of their time in my spa. When my children were little, they played for hours in the spa. I guess the size just felt right, and the fact that I could make the water just a little warmer for my young royalty was an added bonus. As my children became teenagers, hot tub parties were just "hot", but they often complained that our exquisite 6 foot round spillover spa was just too small! Yes, my husband and I are guilty of the same - 5 minutes in the pool equals the rest of the evening in the spa with our neighbors or when we finally find that alone time. And finally, my parents often armed with their noodles in tow for our "family aerobic time", but end up in the spa.

"Spools", with their flexible and elegant design capabilities as well as their many accessories: lighting, jets, spillovers, fountains and exercise jets are the perfect water feature for most backyards.
